“What Every American Needs to Know about the Quran” by William Federer is an important book. It supplies the answers to questions that many of us have had about Islam, providing the answers by quoting chapter and verse of the Koran, and citing historical events that reflect how the teaching of Mohammed have actually been practiced by Muslims. I think every active American citizen needs to understand the information in this book, and soon. Let me try to summarize briefly what I gained from this book.

“Islam” means submission, specifically to the will of Allah. A “Muslim” is someone who has submitted. This is a master and slave relationship, not a father and son relationship. Allah is not our Father in heaven. He has never taken a wife or begotten a child. To refer to him as Father is blasphemous.

We are not created in Allah’s image. To suggest otherwise is blasphemous. Allah is God, and so unlike us that we cannot possibly comprehend and understand him. To try to communicate with Allah is blasphemous; even the five time daily prayers are not to attempt to communicate with Allah, but merely to worship and submit. Our relationship to Allah is not to know, or understand, or even try to understand what does not make sense or seems inconsistent to us, but to submit.

But if Allah is so unlike us, so beyond our comprehension and unapproachable, how do we know what Allah wants? How are we to submit? The Messenger of Allah (Mohammed) has told us in the Quran what we are to do.

And what did Mohammed say? That a woman is only worth half what a man is worth. Men are permitted to beat their wives, if their wives do not submit unto them and please them. That anyone who has not submitted to Allah is an infidel, and is to be killed if they do not convert to Islam and feel themselves subdued. Infidel women may be raped, surviving infidels may be enslaved, and their property may be taken by Muslims as a reward for performing Allah’s will. If a Muslim dies killing infidels, they will go to heaven and be rewarded with a host of virgins for their pleasure. If a Muslim kills one of their own trying to kill an infidel, the dead Muslim will also go to paradise because “Allah will recognize his own”. So there is no worry about killing innocent Muslims. It is called a “Religion of Peace” because after all the infidels are killed or enslaved, there will be nobody left that needs killing.

But even after everyone is killed, enslaved or converted to Islam, there is only the peace of slavery for the subdued, the peace of slavery, if 1400 years of history is any indication. For all those above the very bottom level of society (if you can call it that) there is still the endless and bloody struggle for power. And for those at the very top, there is still the ever present threat of being poisoned by one of their wives, as happened to Mohammed.

Does every Muslim believe that they must follow the doctrines of conquest, violence and lust? It is difficult to say, because the Koran instructs them to practice deception if needed to serve Allah’s goal of eliminating infidels. How can you believe someone whose faith compels them to lie when it suits the purpose of their faith?

There is the view that there are “moderate” Muslims who, while they do not repudiate their faith, do think that it is not yet the right time to pursue the “holy war” or Jihad against the infidels. So when is the right time? Whenever their supreme religious leader acting as Allah’s spokesman, tells them it is. And presumably that will happen as soon as their supreme religious leader believes that they have the power to win. The only question is whether that power to win is to be achieved by reaching a sufficient percentage of the population so that they can overwhelm the infidels, or by attaining the use of a weapon that gives them a decisive advantage in battle, as did the scimitar swords made of Damascus steel did 1400 years ago.

For a people who are happy to kill their own in order to kill infidels, the nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles they are working feverishly to complete in Iran, might be just such a decisive weapon. The fear of nuclear retaliation that inhibited the use of nuclear weapons throughout the cold war, is repudiated by their faith. They can prove their faith and commitment to Allah by fearlessly using nuclear weapons without concern for their own survival. Allah will recognize and reward his martyrs.

Will the Muslims be moderated by living with and integrating with other people? No. It is forbidden by their faith to mingle with infidels. They are to isolate themselves from any moderating influence. Anyone who leaves Islam is to be killed, and may be spared only if they return to Islam and feel themselves subdued.

Mohammed thought of everything to put himself on the pedestal as the sole Spokesman of God, and to protect his power perpetually from every possible challenge. His successors have answered to the same siren song of power over other men that he did, and have followed in his footsteps to this day.
