We are informed that the most effective means of communicating with a Congressman (after personal contact) is via fax. Phone calls are 2nd best. Emails are third. Traditional mail is always opened and read, but may take up to 2 weeks to wind their way through the mail & security checks. Petitions and mass emailings (usually coordinated by an organization as a fundraising effort or to collect email addresses and other information that has commercial value) are particularly ineffective.
